THE SLATE HOUSE
Semi-Detached, Jalan Mengkudu
Defined by quiet strength and elemental clarity, The Slate House is a study in contrasts — between solidity and warmth, structure and stillness.
Set against a dense suburban backdrop, the home establishes its own rhythm through bold horizontal planes, monolithic walls, and an intentionally grounded profile.
A restrained material palette of textured concrete, natural stone, and warm timber sets the tone — raw yet refined.
At its core, the design celebrates the weight of architecture. Deep overhangs, cantilevered eaves, and narrow vertical slits create a choreography of light and shadow that shifts across the day. Inside, timber-lined ceilings soften the structural geometry, offering warmth beneath weight.
The spaces are contemplative and calm, arranged with clarity and minimalism. There is no ornament — only balance. Every void, surface, and line is calibrated to serve both function and atmosphere.
A home that does not seek attention, but invites presence — where stillness becomes luxury, and architecture becomes an anchor.
